Mr. Alfred Nelson Skidmore, Age 83, passed away Saturday January 13, 2024 at the SOMC Hospice Center in Portsmouth, Ohio with his family by his side.

Nelson was born in Garrison, Kentucky on August 21, 1940 to the late Buster and June Richardson Skidmore.

He was a carpenter and retired from Local 437. He was in logging, and Farming, he was a master of a lot of trades. He always stayed busy with something.   

Nelson loved the outdoors and Mudd racing. He loved Briery and hunting on his farm on Briary. He enjoyed Four wheeling, Farming, and loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, and great grandchildren. 

Preceded in death beside his parents are Two infant Sons. 8 Brothers Homer Edward Skidmore, Kenneth Richard Skidmore, Lary Lee Skidmore, James Donald Skidmore, Ronald Thomas Skidmore, Michael Craig Skidmore, David Wayne Skidmore and Kenneth “Buck” Skidmore. One sister Freda Ann Hauck.

Left to cherish Nelsons memory is his wife of 59 years Martha Skidmore of Garrison, Kentucky.

4 Daughters- Angie (Bradley) Sparks, Rhonda (Boe) Kegley, Tina Skidmore, and Carrie (Jesse) Mosley.

 5 Grandchildren- Nelson Kegley, Derrick Kegley, Pamela Stamm, Brad Sparks, and Colt Russell Mosley.

 7 Great Grandchildren- Braden Kegley, Kaylee Kegley, Makenna Stamm, Brantley Stamm, Elodie Stamm, Elaina Sparks, and Marshall Sparks.

3 Sisters- Wilma Collier, Betty (Junior) Bloomfield, and Cora (Ray) May.

Services will be Wednesday January 17, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gaydos Funeral Home 159 second street Vanceburg, Kentucky 41179. With Pastor Ben Collier officiating burial will immediately follow at the Skidmore cemetery in Garrison, Kentucky.

Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday January 16, 2024 at the Gaydos funeral Home. And from Noon until the time-of-service Wednesday January 17, 2024.
