Mr. Allen K. Prater, Age 62, of Morehead, Ky passed away Thursday April 26, 2018 at his home with his family by his side after an extended illness.

Allen was born in Marquette, Michigan August 20^th, 1955 to the late Arthur Bruce and Lena Pearl Hamlin Prater.

 

Allen worked for the Carmuse Corporation for 23 years. He also worked for Vanceburg Ready Mix for 5 years, and later worked for the Whayne Supply Company in Lexington for 7 years.

 

Allen coached for the Lewis County School System for 37 years and in Rowan County School System for 3 years. Allen was a member of the First Baptist Church in Vanceburg, Ky.

 

Surviving Allen his is wife of 43 years whom he married October 12^th, 1974 in Vanceburg Debbie Lykins Prater of Morehead, Ky.

One son- Todd A. Prater of Vanceburg, Ky.

Daughter-in-law- Misty Ison Prater of Morehead, Ky.

Four grandchildren- Dru Allen Prater, Aaron Todd Prater, Kennedy Ryan Prater, and Karsyn Blair Prater.

Two brothers- Arthur (Corky) Prater and Jack Prater both of Vanceburg, Ky.

Mother-in-law- Vivian Watson Lykins of Vanceburg, Ky.

Several nieces and nephews also survive who will mourn his passing.

 

Preceded in death beside his parents was a son Anthony Keith 'Pedro' Prater, sisters-in-law Sue Prater and Pat Prater, and a brother Danny Prater.

 

Funeral services will be Tuesday May 1^st, 2018 at 12:00 pm at the Gaydos Funeral Home 159 2^nd street Vanceburg, Ky. 41179 with Pastor Michael Ulrich officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Morehead, Ky.

 

Visitation will be Monday April 30^th, 2018 from 4-9 pm and from 8:00 am until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers for Allen K. Prater will be Billy Don Blevins, Shane Lykins, Kyle Prater, Shannon Lykins, Dennis Prater, David Lykins, Monte Lykins, and Tommy Lykins.
