Arthur Eugene Harris, Sr., 74, died peacefully Saturday, January 21, 2017, at the Carriage Inn Nursing Home in Cadiz, Ohio after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease.

 

Arthur was born in Lewis County December 27, 1942 to the late Arthur Elmer and Catherine Overstreet Harris. He was raised in the Vanceburg area until joining the U.S. Army in 1961. He also met and married his first wife and dear friend, Mary (Patsy) Patoski Stearns, that same year.

 

Upon discharge, Arthur parlayed his passion for cars with his automotive expertise into a career as a highly skilled auto mechanic. He relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. In 1973, where he earned his A.S.E. Certified technician status, and lived and worked until finally retiring to Hayesville, N.C. In 2005.

 

Arthur is survived by his children, Arthur Eugene Harris, Jr. of Pembroke Pines, Fla., and Michelle Lee Harris of Flagler Beach, Fla.; sister and brother-in-law Dolly & Donald Kidwell of Cadiz, Ohio; sister Darling Darlene (Tenny) Harris of Maysville, Ky; brothers and sisters-in-law Val Edward & Sue Harris, Robert D. & Karen Harris and John Allen & Lynn Harris all of Vanceburg, Ky., as well as nieces, nephews and cousins living throughout the country.

 

Arthur was preceded in death beside his parents was a brother Franklin Dale Harris.

 

Arthur Sr. was not a demonstrative man when it came to showing his affection, and his I LOVE YOUs were often few and far between, even when saying good-bye to those he loved most. So, instead of good-bye, let us forever remember him saying, “It's been fun.”

 

Graveside services will be Saturday May 27^th, 2017 at NOON at the Esham cemetery Petersville, Kentucky with Brother Terry Cooper officiating.

Military graveside rites will be accorded by the V.F.W. Post 5438 Monte Lewis Stamm Vanceburg, Kentucky.
