Ben dedicated much of his life to raising tobacco and cattle, fixing tractors, and taking care of his garden. In his free time, he liked camping with his family by the river, playing cards, and preserving vegetables he grew himself. He also participated in a softball league for several summers. Deer season was always special to him, marked by gatherings at the family cabin. Ben relished fishing trips to Florida and while browsing his arrowhead and old tool collections, he enjoyed pork rinds, popcorn, and any other salty snacks.
Ben was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela Braden Chaney, parents Benny Sr. and Christine Chaney; two brothers- Mike Chaney and Teddy Chaney.
