Bessie Cooper, Age 88, of Vanceburg, Kentucky passed away Tuesday May 6, 2025 at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home in Flemingsburg, Kentucky.

Bessie, was born in Rowan County, Kentucky October 22, 1936 a daughter of the late Levi and Mary Conley Sparks. Bessie was a Homemaker and enjoyed sewing. She was of the Christian faith and worked at US Shoe in Vanceburg for 31 years.

Left to cherish Bessie’s memories is her sister Ellen Glover of Tollesboro, Kentucky. Her brother in-law Alford Cooper of Vanceburg, Kentucky. Five Grandchildren and 9 Great grandchildren also survive who will mourn her passing.

Bessie was preceded in death besides her parents was her husband of 71 years whom she married July 27, 1953 in Flemingsburg, Kentucky Gene Cooper whom passed away February 4, 2025. Her daughter Genee Applegate and her son Larry Cooper. 6 sisters Carlotta Banks, Mattie Coldiron, Flossie Brown, Ruth Baldridge, Elizabeth Chaney, and Margaret Brooks. 4 brothers Jerry Sparks, Jack Sparks, Ora Lee Sparks, and JR Sparks.

Visitation for Bessie Cooper will be Saturday May 10, 2025 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at the Gaydos Funeral Home 159 2nd street Vanceburg, Kentucky 41179.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 12:00 pm at the Gaydos Funeral Home with Brother Terry Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the McEldowney cemetery.

Pallbearers for Bessie Cooper will be family and friends.
