Betty Boyd Secrest, Age 87, of Vanceburg, Kentucky passed away Sunday morning January 7^th, 2018 at her home after an extended illness. Betty was born in Tollesboro, Kentucky September 13, 1930 to the late Boyd Hiss and Beulah Emmons Harrison. In her earlier years Betty along with her late husband Wayne Zeke owned and operated the Jewelry Box in Vanceburg. Later Betty worked for the Lewis County Board of Education for 29 years from which she retired.

Betty was a graduate of Tollesboro High School Class of 1948. She was an avid gardener and hosted thousands of pool parties for her grandchildren.

Betty traveled the World covering almost all the continents and U.S. With her family members.

 

Surviving Betty are two children, a daughter- Jill Secrest O'Cull of Vanceburg, Kentucky.

One son- Dane Wilson Secrest of Vanceburg, Kentucky.

Five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Two sisters- Sue Jane and her husband (Al) Bane of Tollesboro, Ky.; Patsy and her husband (Steve) Wright of Paris, Kentucky.

 

Preceded Betty in death beside her parents was her husband Wayne Zeke Secrest in 2001 and a grandson Jazz Austin Secrest in 2017.

 

Visitation will be Thursday January 11^th, 2018 from NOON to 2:00pm at the Gaydos Funeral Home 159 2^nd street Vanceburg, Kentucky.

 

Funeral services will be held privately at a later date at the convience of the family.
