Charles W. 'Buddy' Smith, Age 71, of Vanceburg passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side Tuesday June 6, 2017 after an extended illness.
Buddy was born in Vanceburg, Kentucky April 17, 1946 to the late George W. and Nina Ann Kilgore Smith.
Buddy worked for the CSX Railroad for 27 years. He loved to play golf, and go hunting and fishing with his family and friends. Buddy was of the Christian faith. He LOVED being involved with his grandchildren activities. Was a member of the V.F.W. Post 5438 Monte Lewis Stamm. Buddy proudly served his country in the United States Army where he served as a medic in Korea.
Surviving is his wife of 48 years whom he married February 16, 1969 in Vanceburg, Ky. Janice Fugate Smith.
One Daughter- Angela D. and her husband (Woodrow) Robinson of Maysville, Ky.
One son- Troy D. and his wife (Felicia) Smith of Vanceburg, Ky.
Six grandchildren- Ashton, Hunter, Levi, Kelsey, Kaleb, and Kiley.
Two sisters- Carolyn Carroll of Vanceburg, Ky., Edie (Dave) Kochanek of Farmington Hills, Michigan.
Preceded in death beside his parents was a sister Freda Smith.
Pallbearers for Buddy Smith will be Charlie Stacy, Bill Rose, Allen Dillow, Jeremy Wilburn, Steve Bivens, and Joe Billman.
Military graveside rites will be accorded by V.F.W. Post 5438 Monte Lewis Stamm Vanceburg, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be Friday June 9th, 2017 @ 1:00 pm at the Gaydos Funeral Home 159 2nd street Vanceburg, Kentucky with Reverend Wilma Erwin officiating. Burial will follow in the Lewis County Memory Gardens Black Oak, Ky.
Visitation will be Thursday June 8th from 5-8 pm and from 8:00am until time of services Friday at the funeral home.
