Claire Esham of Vanceburg, KY passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026 at the age of 60 yrs. At the Southern Ohio Medical Center Portsmouth, Ohio.

Claire is survived by her son Thomas Broughton and Mother Lois Esham of Vanceburg and brother Todd Esham (Cindy) of Rochester, NY.

She was predeceased by her father, Charles Thomas (Tom) Esham, maternal grandparents Floyd and Geneva Lewis and paternal grandparents Richard (Dick) T. and Gladys Esham all of Vanceburg, and very special aunt Naomi Breeze of Hillsboro, OH, and ex-husband Carlos (Butch) Broughton of Lancaster, KY.

Claire graduated from Morehead State University with B.A. and M.A. degrees in 1988. She went to work for the State of Kentucky Social Services Dept. for over 20 years before retiring due to an extended illness.

Family and friends may call at Gaydos Funeral Home on Sunday July 26, 2026, From 11:00 A.M. To 1:00 P.M. with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. With Reverend Wilma Erwin officiating.

Interment will be at the Lewis County Memory Gardens.
