Steven Courtney ‘Snuffy’ Smith, Age 69, of Vanceburg, Kentucky passed away unexpectedly at his home Thursday January 25, 2024.

Courtney was born in Portsmouth, Ohio April 21, 1954 to the late Steven and June Lee Truesdell Smith.  ‘Snuffy’ as he was called by his friends and family was a World War II history enthusiast.  Graduate of Lewis County High School Class of 1972 in which he was first chair trumpet player for the LCHS Band.

Snuffy, was a collector of sports memorabilia of any sorts from baseball cards to ceramic bobble heads.  Always supported his UK Wildcats basketball team, along with the Ohio State and Pittsburgh Steelers football team.  He was always raising a garden and sharing his produce with his friends and neighbors.

He liked going to Portsmouth and playing trivia with his friends.

Surviving Courtney are several cousins and many friends from the Vanceburg area.

Visitation for Steven Courtney ‘Snuffy’ Smith will be Saturday April 20, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Gaydos Funeral Home 159 2nd street Vanceburg, Kentucky 41179.

A Memorial service will be held Saturday April 20, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Cox Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow in the East Fork cemetery Tollesboro, Kentucky.
