Danny Joe Blankenship, Age 74, of Vanceburg, Kentucky passed away Wednesday December 17, 2025 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio surrounded by his loving family.

Danny was born in Petersville, Kentucky January 22, 1951 to the late Bruce and Lorene ‘Polly’ Stacy Blankenship.  Danny was a member of the Hilltop Tabernacle Church. In his earlier life he worked for the Human Resources State Department from 1978-1982.  From there he started Crawford’s Florist in which he owned and operated in July of 1979 to present.  Danny, was instrumental in starting Gospel music on WKKS Radio on Wednesday and Sunday night in 1989.  He loved going to church and spending time with his church family.

Most of all he loved his children, family, and church family.  Danny was a ‘DAD’ to many other children as well.

Left to cherish Danny’s memories is his wife of 25 years Teresa Killen Blankenship of Vanceburg, Kentucky.

Daughters- Sierra Blankenship and Elizabeth Blankenship both of Vanceburg, Kentucky.

Three sons- Josef Dylan and his fiancé Sydney O’Keefe, Jacob and Clayton Blankenship all of Vanceburg, Kentucky.

Sister- Julia (Walter) Butler of Camp Dix, Kentucky.

One brother- Bruce “Shorty” Blankenship of Vanceburg, Kentucky

Several nieces and nephews along with many other family members also survive who will mourn his passing.

Preceded him in death beside his parents was a brother David ‘Crocket’ Blankenship and mother-in-law Pauline Killen.

Visitation will be Sunday December 21, 2025 from 5-8 pm at the Gaydos Funeral Home 159 2nd street Vanceburg, Kentucky 41179 and after 9:00 am Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held Monday December 22, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Gaydos Funeral Home with Rev. Wilma Erwin, Brother Homer Nolen, and Brother Justin Dodson officiating.  Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens in Black Oak, Kentucky.

Pallbearers for Danny Joe Blankenship will be Walter Butler, Kenny Christy, Eugene Osborne, Jerry Wilburn, Robert Thurman, Dennis Brown, and Tony Gaydos.
