Dewey Clay Bryant Obituary

Dewey Clay Bryant, 86, of Vanceburg passed away Tuesday, February 26th, 2019 following a brief illness.  Mr. Bryant was born in Ribolt, Kentucky April 4, 1932 to the late Edward Morton and Stella Thomas Bryant.  He was a graduate of Tollesboro High School Class of 1950.  Dewey enjoyed playing basketball and was a stand-out player for the Tollesboro Wildcats.  Mr. Bryant was a U.S. Army veteran stationed in Ft. Knox during the Korean Conflict. Following his  time in the Army, Mr. Bryant worked in the farm machinery business as well as the tobacco industry.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching thoroughbred horse racing.

Dewey Clay Bryant is survived by his wife of nearly 64 years, Leanne Sullivan Bryant.  In addition he is survived by two daughters, Teresa Bryant of Vanceburg, Ky., and Treva Jones of Lexington, Ky.  Two sons, Edward (Teresa) Bryant- Vanceburg, Ky., and William (Melissa) Bryant of Lexington, Ky.

Seven grandchildren also survive- Leslee Bertram (Jeff Jennings), Tiffany Bryant Hunter (Jeremy), Warren Madison and Hallie Bryant all of Lexington, Ky.  Ellen Bertram (Tim) Knoll of Cincinnati, Ohio.  Brandon (Amber) Bryant of Vanceburg, Ky.  Nine great-grandchildren.

Two sisters- Louanna White and Maxine Bryant both of Tollesboro, Ky.

Preceded in death beside his parents were five siblings- Avil Frazier, Matilda Harrison, Betty Jo Rayburn, Harold Bryant and Helena Bryant.

Visitation will be Friday March 1st, 2019 from 11:00amuntil 1:00 pm at the Gaydos Funeral Home 159 2nd street Vanceburg, Ky. 41179

Funeral services will be Friday March 1st, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Tom Cox Jr. and Richard Anderson officiating.  Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens Black Oak, Ky.

Pallbearers for Dewey Clay Bryant will be Brandon Bryant, Warren Bryant, Timmy Bowden, Jeff Jennings, Tim Knoll, and Jeremy Hunter.

Military graveside rites will be accorded by the V.F.W. Post 5438 Monte Lewis Stamm Vanceburg, Ky.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.gaydosfh.com
