Donald R. Hampton, 85, of Vanceburg passed away Wednesday February 20, 2019 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. Born December 15, 1933, in Firebrick, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Douglas and Louise Hampton.
Mr. Hampton was a graduate of South Portsmouth High School and Morehead State University. He served in the US Army for two years, was a member of the Stone City Lodge # 963 of Kentucky, F. & A.M. He was a retired school teacher with the majority of his career spent in Lewis County Schools. He enjoyed fishing, farming, and attending various sporting events.
He is survived by his wife, Mary M. Lykins Hampton; two sons, Douglas (Michelle) Hampton, Joseph (Becky) Hampton, both of Vanceburg; Three grandchildren, Summer Hampton (Jack) Behrendt, Clay Hampton, and Samantha J. Hampton, all of Vanceburg; Three great-grandchildren Granger Hampton, Maggie Behrendt, and Greyson Hampton. He is also survived by one sister JoAnn Stevenson of South Portsmouth, as well as several nieces and nephews. Don and his wife Mary enjoyed spending most of the wintertime in Titusville, FL and have several dear friends there.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday April 27th, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Vanceburg Christian Church with Pastor Tom Cox Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at the Valley cemetery Charters, Kentucky.
Military graveside services will be accorded by the V.F.W. Post 5438 Monte Lewis Stamm Vanceburg, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Woodlawn Cemetery and Vanceburg Christian Church.
