Donald Lee ‘Ducky’ Shope, Age 83, of Lucasville, Ohio formerly of Vanceburg, Kentucky passed away Friday December 19, 2025 at the Edgewood Manor of Lucasville II in Lucasville, Ohio.

Ducky as he was known by family and friends was born on Rock Run, Kentucky September 11, 1942 to the late Charles and Zadie Gladys Dyer Shope.  Donald was a farmer and loved to go hunting and fishing.  He enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews.  Donald was of the Christian faith.

Surviving Donald are his siblings Retia Hauck and Gary ‘Bim’ Thurman, Janie and Darrin Farley, Mary Nolan, Paul ‘Pete’ and Drema Shope, Geri Shope and Bob Grayson, all of Vanceburg, Kentucky.  Earl and Grace Shope, Stanley ‘Bo’ and Evelyn Shope both of Bucyrus, Ohio.  Clyde Shope of Marion, Ohio, and Debra and John Pyles of Florida.  Numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive who will mourn his passing.

Preceded in death beside his parents were two sisters- Melvina Lohr and Rosie Evans.  Five brothers- Bill, Charles, Carl, Dave, and Freddie Shope.

Funeral services for Donald Lee ‘Ducky’ Shope will be Friday December 26, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gaydos Funeral Home 159 2nd street Vanceburg, Kentucky 41179 with Brother Tony Corns officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hannibal Cemetery on Rock Run.

Visitation will be Friday December 26, 2025 from 11:00 am until time of services at the Gaydos Funeral Home.
