Ms. Doris W. May, Age 97, of Vanceburg, Kentucky passed away Sunday July 5, 2026 with her family by her side at the Vanceburg Hills Nursing Home in Vanceburg, Kentucky.

Doris, was born in South Shore, Kentucky December 21, 1928 to the late Ross Caleb and Daisy Cadwallader May.  Doris worked as a loan officer and cashier for the State National Bank, Citizens Deposit Bank, the First Safety Bank in Cincinnati, Ohio and Georgetown, Ohio where she retired from.  She was a lifetime member of the Martin Church of Christ on Quicks Run, Kentucky.  She was a Sunday School teacher at Martin Church of Christ for 50 years.  She was a foster grandparent and was a Kentucky Colonel.

Left to cherish Doris’s memories are sisters- Ruth May of Vanceburg, Ky., Lena O’Cull- Maysville, Ky.,

Brother- Julius Ray (Gail) May of Fleming, County, Kentucky.

Several nieces and nephews also survive who will mourn her passing.

Preceded in death beside her parents was a sister- Oleta Keller, brothers- Don W. May, Roscoe May, and Louis Wade May.

Visitation will be Wednesday July 8, 2026 from 5-7 pm at the Gaydos Funeral Home 159 2nd street Vanceburg, Kentucky 41179.

Funeral service will be Thursday July 9, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Martin Church of Christ on Quicks Run, Kentucky with Brother Rodney Mineer officiating.  Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens Black Oak, Kentucky.

Pallbearers for Doris W. May will be Howard Martin O’Cull, Kevin O’Cull, George Ross O’Cull, Bradley Dale May, and Eldon May.
