Mr. Elwood E. Crawford, Age 73 of Vanceburg, Kentucky passed away peacefully Wednesday May 31st, 2017 at the Hospice of Hope at Kenton Pointe Maysville, Kentucky.
Elwood was born in Stricklett, Kentucky January 15, 1944 to the late Archie and Goldie Stevens Crawford.
Elwood was a farmer and was a school bus driver for the Lewis County School system from which he retired. His hobbies were bull dozing and he love to hunt and fish. He was a member of the Union Baptist Church. Elwood was a veteran of the United States Army in which he so proudly served in the 82nd Airborne Division.
Surviving Elwood is his wife of 51 years whom he married in February of 1966 Betty Zornes Crawford of Vanceburg, Kentucky.
One daughter- Bonnie Crawford of Alexandria, Kentucky
Two sons- Woody (Lisa) Crawford of Petersburg, Virginia., and Paul Crawford of Erlanger, Kentucky.
Four grandchildren- Jacob, Kaiden, Zachary, and Madeline Crawford.
A niece who Elwood and Betty raised Andrea Collins of Greenville, Tenn.
Two sisters- Betty Vanderpool of Bethel, Ohio, and Dorothy (Chuck) Lewis of Vanceburg, Kentucky. Many nieces and nephews also survive who will mourn his passing.
Preceded in death beside his parents was a daughter- Helen Crawford, two sons- Archie and Chad Crawford, two brothers- Ronnie and Harold Crawford and a half-brother- Gilbert Stamm.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday June 3rd, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Gaydos Funeral Home 159 2nd street Vanceburg, Kentucky 41179 with Brother Tony Corns officiating. Burial will follow in the Crawford family cemetery on Holly.
Military graveside rites will be accorded by the V.F.W. Post 5438 Monte Lewis Stamm.
