Frenchie Ray Poynter, Age 83, of Vanceburg, Kentucky passed away Saturday December 14, 2019 at the Maysville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center Maysville, Kentucky.

Frenchie was born in Perry County, Kentucky June 30, 1936 to the late Gilbert and Lizzie Ferguson Poynter.  Frenchie was a veteran of the United States Air Force with 24 years of service with the rank of SMSGT. During those 24 years of service Frenchie served 42 months in Vietnam.  He also was a Government tobacco grader for 18 years.  Frenchie loved to garden and travel with his family. He also was a member of the Black Oak Volunteer Fire Department.

Frenchie was a Christian and a member of the Black Oak Christian Church.

Left to cherish Frenchie memory is his wife of 62 years whom he married January 23, 1957 Ruth Liles Poynter.

One daughter- Pamela (Mark) O’Brien of Anchorage, Alaska.

Two sons- David Ray (Angela) Poynter-Louisville, Ky., and Robert (Betty) Poynter of Vanceburg, Ky.

Brothers- Rodney (Vicky) Poynter- Covington, Ky., Harry (Mavis) Poynter of Missouri.

Sisters- Shirley Gearty of Texas and Kay (Tom) Moran of Maysville, Ky.

Grandchildren- Trisha Hoskins, Kimberly Poynter, Kayla Poynter, Eric Poynter, Dustin Poynter, and Molly Hart. Seven great-grandchildren who also will mourn his passing.

Graveside services will be held Thursday December 19, 2019 @ 12:45 pm  at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East Greenup County, Ky.  Brother Danny Bentley officiating.

Military honors will be conducted by the Ceredo-Kenova American Legion Post 93.
