Iness S. (Smith) Knell

Iness Smith Knell, Age 85, of Vanceburg, Kentucky passed away Friday January 5, 2024 with her family by her side at the Southern Ohio Hospice Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Iness was born in Lewis County, Kentucky April 17, 1938 to the late Thurston and Rose Bloomfield Smith.  Iness was a homemaker all her life.  She enjoyed hunting ginseng, and planting flowers and tending to her garden. She also liked to watch old TV shows.   She was of the Christian faith.

Preceded her in death beside her parents was her husband Roscoe Buck Knell in 1997. Two sons- Clyde Knell and Carl Knell. Two sisters- Ida Mae Knell and Myrtle Cooley.  Four brothers- Charles Edward Smith, Junior Smith, Lovell Smith, and Gene Smith.  Great Great-granddaughter- Jaelynna Marie Knell.

Left to cherish Iness memories is a daughter Helen Marie (Bob) Bloomfield of Garrison, Kentucky.

One son- James Willard Knell of Vanceburg, Kentucky.

Two sisters- Millie Bloomfield of Vanceburg, Kentucky and Betty Davis of Olive Hill, Kentucky.

Two brothers- Simon Smith of Vanceburg, Kentucky and Leon Smith of Olive Hill, Kentucky.

Several grandchildren and many great grandchildren survive who will mourn her passing.

Visitation for Iness Smith Knell will be Monday January 8, 2024 from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm at the Gaydos Funeral Home 159 2nd street Vanceburg, Kentucky 41179.

Graveside services will be held Monday January 8, 2024 at the Nolen Cemetery on Laurel, Kentucky with Brother Tony Corns officiating. 

Pallbearers for Iness Smith Knell will be family and friends.
