James Edward Shelton, Age 71, of Vanceburg, Kentucky passed away Sunday May 18, 2025 at his home unexpectedly. 

Jim as he was known by his family and friends was born in Portsmouth, Ohio July 16, 1953 to the late Charles Fred and Violet L. Smith Shelton.  Jim in his earlier years worked with Dean Switzer driving the Bulk mail truck.  He also worked for the Lewis County Ambulance and the Edge Mead Ambulance in Ohio.  Jim, was a member of the Miss Kentucky State Scholarship pageant and the Miss Ohio State College pageant.  He was chairman of the Renaissance committee for the City of Vanceburg.  Jim developed the Shelton Mobile Home Park in Vanceburg.  He was a collector of comic books and baseball cards.  Jim was raised and attended the Vanceburg Christian Church.  Jim loved his dogs Nigglet and Chase.

Left to cherish Jim’s memories are sisters- Sharon Kennedy of Maysville, Kentucky, Katherine ‘Kate’ (Denny) Gallagher of Lima, Ohio.

Two nieces and nephews Angela Schumach, Ashley (Adam) Fite, Denny (Kym) Gallagher, and Scott (Jessica) Gallagher.  Great nieces and nephews- Jaedyn, London, Blake, Gavin, Alexa, and Jacob along with a host of family and friends who also will mourn his passing.

Visitation for Jim will be held Saturday May 24, 2025 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the Gaydos Funeral Home 159 2nd street Vanceburg, Kentucky 41179.

Funeral services will be held Saturday May 24, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Gaydos Funeral Home with Pastor John M. Byard officiating.  Burial will follow in the Black Oak Cemetery Black Oak, Kentucky.

Pallbearers for James Edward Shelton will be nieces and nephews Ashley, London, Scott, Ryan, and Mike.
