Mr. Johnny Douglas McClurg, Age 66, of Vanceburg passed away at his home with his family by his side Saturday at 1:45 p.m. April 2nd 2016 after a brief illness.
Johnny was born in Lewis County, Kentucky August 2, 1949 to the late Fred and Kathryn Penrod McClurg. Johnny enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming. He worked for the CSX Railroad for 34 years in the maintenance department. He was of the Christian faith.
Surviving are three daughters- Lonna Powell of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, Melissa Murphy of Frankfort, Kentucky, and Linda Otis and Steve of Huntington, West Virginia.
One son- Johnny Darren McClurg and Cindy Paducah, Kentucky.
4-sisters- Opal Gilkerson of Cynthiana, Kentucky, Jewell Jarrett of Columbus, Ohio, Darlene Henderson of Tollesboro, Kentucky and Geneva Lawthorne of Bethel, Ohio.
2-brothers Bud (Sherry) McClurg of Georgetown, Kentucky and Gene (Cindy) McClurg of Zephyr Hills, Florida.
14-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter also survive who will mourn his passing.
Preceded in death beside his parents were three brothers- Delbert, Ralph, and Frank McClurg.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday April 5, 2016 and from 8:00 a.m. Until the time of services Wednesday at the Gaydos Funeral Home 159 2nd street Vanceburg, Kentucky 41179.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday April 6, 2016 at the Gaydos Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Grimes officiating. Burial will follow in the McClurg cemetery Concord, Kentucky.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Bruin, Ronald McClurg, Brian McClurg, Butch Polley, Steve Dunigan, Joe Potter, Michael McClurg, and Cedric Murphy.
