Mr. Johnny E. “Rooty” Monroe Jr., Age 53, of Vanceburg, Kentucky died at the SOMC Hospice Center in Portsmouth, Ohio September 3, 2020 after a brief illness.
“Rooty” as he was known by family and many friends was born in Portsmouth, Ohio July 4th, 1967 to the late Johnny E. Monroe Sr. and Alice L. Carrington Monroe of Cincinnati, Ohio. Rooty, graduated from Pendleton County High School Class of 1986. He worked at Ron’s Pic Pac in Vanceburg and love to mow yards all over the city of Vanceburg. You would always see him on his John Deere riding mower going to and from his jobs on the streets of Vanceburg. Rooty, never met a stranger and talked to everyone he met. Rooty, was of the Christian faith. In his spare time he would love to go fishing.
Left behind to cherish Rooty’s memories is his mother Alice L. Carrington Monroe of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Sister- Janice Bivens and her fiancé (Robert Perry) of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Brothers- Billy (Angie) Monroe of Williamsburg, Ohio, Jimmy Monroe and his fiancée (Renee Reno) of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Bobby (Melinda) Monroe of Vanceburg, Kentucky. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins who also will mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be Tuesday September 8, 2020 @ 1:00 pm at the Gaydos Funeral Home 159 2nd Street Vanceburg, Ky. 41179 with Brother Larry Carrington officiating. Burial will follow in the Black Oak Cemetery Black Oak, Ky.
Visitation will be Monday September 7, 2020 from 5-8 pm at the funeral home.
Family will be serving as pallbearers for Johnny E. “Rooty” Monroe Jr.
