Joseph Lee Owens, Age 35, of Vanceburg, Kentucky passed away, Saturday August 12, 2017 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.
Joseph was born in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, March 23, 1982 to Robert and Peggy Whitfield Owens II of Vanceburg, Kentucky. Joe was in the National Guard for 10 years. He Graduated from Lewis County High School in 2001. He was a self employed construction worker and handyman. Joe was of the Christian faith. He loved fishing,watching and playing sports especially his Cardinals and Bengals. He also loved reading westerns.
Surviving beside his parents is a sister Connie (Mike) Mineer, One brother Robert Owens III, a niece Chelse Renee Parks, two nephews Tommy Lee Parks and Hunter Jordan, Grandfather Robert Owens Sr., and several aunts, uncles, and friends who will also mourn his passing.
Preceded in death was a brother Jesse Dean Owens, Grandmother Mildred Irene Owens, and Aunt Teresa Hilterbrand
Friends may call from 5-8 Thursday August 17, 2017 and Friday August 18, 2017 from 8:00am- 10:00am at the Gaydos Funeral Home 159 Second street Vanceburg, Ky 41179.
Funeral services will be Friday August 18, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Slate Hollow Church in Vanceburg, KY 41179 with Brother Tommy Parks officiating. Burial will follow at the Owens family Cemetery on Laurel Road.
Military graveside services will be accorded by the 149th VCC Olive Hill, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers donations maybe made to Gaydos Funeral Home to help defray the cost of the funeral expenses.
Pallbearers for Mr. Joseph Lee Owens are Tommy Lee Parks, Hunter Jordan, Shawn Mansfield, Jason Owens, Jarrod Zornes, Adam Plank, and George Hughes.
