Kathy Ann McKibben Brown, age 57, of Vanceburg, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2024, at her son’s residence after a hard fought battle with colon cancer.

She was born August 7, 1967, in Maysville, the daughter of Ramona McKibben of Maysville, KY and the late Louie McKibben.

Kathy was a bright light to all who met her. When her kids were growing up, it was nothing out of the ordinary to have a house full of their friends at any given time. Many of those friends referred to her as “Mom” or “Momma Brown” because she always made sure they were as taken care of as if they were her own. Her entire life revolved around protecting and being there for her kids. The only thing that beat being a mother was being a “Momaw” to her five grandbabies who think she hung the moon.

In addition to her mother, survivors include her daughter, Kaitlin (Justin) Stewart, of Camp Dix; a son, Benjamin (Katie) Brown of Tollesboro, five grandchildren, Ryder Stewart, Taylin Stewart, and Sebastian Stewart, of Camp Dix and Ava Brown and Benny Brown, of Tollesboro; two brothers, Marvin (Jenny) McKibben, of Flemingsburg and Rodney (Monica) McKibben of Dover; special niece, Brittany (Josh) Waltmire, of Flemingsburg; two nephews, Kyle McKibben and Blake McKibben; three great nephews, two great nieces, and close friend Julia (Walter) Butler, who Kathy seen as more of a sister. Many friends also survive who will greatly miss her.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Gaydos Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Wes Cooper officiating.

Visitation will be 11 am with service at 1 pm at Gaydos Funeral Home, 159 Second Street in Vanceburg. Burial will be in Blankenship Cemetery

Pallbearers will be Kaitlin Stewart, Ben Brown, Katie Brown, Justin Stewart, Marvin McKibben, and Rodney McKibben.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ryder Stewart, Taylin Stewart, Ava Brown, Sebastian Stewart, Benny Brown, and Zayden McKibben.
