Larry D. Evans, Age 77, of Vanceburg, Kentucky passed away early Tuesday morning May 14, 2024 surrounded by his loving family at St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Larry was born in Lewis County, Kentucky May 31, 1946 to the late Falmouth and Evelyn Lewis Evans.  Larry worked for the CSX Railroad for 13 years, he also was a semi tractor trailer driver driving for various companies.  Larry never met a stranger always stopping and talking to everyone he met.  He always had a big garden and was very generous in giving his produce to anyone in need.  Larry loved to go hunting in the fall.  Larry was a great caregiver to his mom and his mother-in-law.  He was especially proud of his children and his grandchildren and great granddaughter.  Larry was of the Christian faith.

Left to cherish Larry’s memories are his two daughters- Stephanie Jane Taylor- Maysville, Ky., Sheryl Lee (Sam) Bond of Foster, Ky.

One son- Joseph Dale (Danielle) Evans- Brooksville, Ky.

Sisters- Doris Thoroughman- Flemingsburg, Ky., Pat Bryant- South Portsmouth, Ky., and Sandy (Ezra) Bartee- Yale, Michigan.

7-grandchildren- Cody Zornes, Elizabeth Taylor, Breanna Bond, Kaitlyn Bond, Cruz Evans, Hailee Evans, and Chris Evans.  One great-granddaughter- Avery Gilvin.  Mother-in-law- Hazel Fannin of Camp Dix, Ky.

Preceded in death beside his parents was his wife Janet Lee Evans in 1998, sister- Joyce Hobbs, brother- Fredrick R. Evans, brothers-in-law- Paul Bryant, Billy D. Thoroughman, sister-in-law- Linda Sue Sartin Evans, and father-in-law- Clinton Fannin.

Funeral services will be Saturday May 18, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at the Gaydos Funeral Home with Brother Jerry Bloomfield officiating burial will follow in the Stone Cemetery Scotts Branch, Ky.

Visitation will be Saturday May 18, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Pallbearers for Larry D. Evans will be Joseph Evans, Sam Bond, Cody Zornes, Cruz Evans, Chris Evans, Daniel Bartee, Josh Kirschbaum, and Jonathan Caudill.  Honorary pallbearers will be Payton Gilvin, Ryan Smart, and Steve Frodge.
