Lizzie Caroline Poynter, Age 100, of the Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility formerly of the Black Oak community passed away with her family by her side Friday November 30, 2012 at 8:15 AM at the Maysville Nursing and Rehabiliation Facility Maysville, Ky. After an extended illness.
Ms. Poynter was born at Licking River in Morgan County, Ky. December 3, 1911 to the late James W. and Lula Perry Ferguson.
She was a homemaker, and was a volunteer for the RSVP in Vanceburg for many years. She was a Kentucky Colonel, and Past President of the Loyal Womens Club of the Black Oak Christian Church. Also was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Quicksand, Ky.
Ms. Poynter was a supporter of the Republican party. She presided over the 4-H Club Council in Vanceburg as President.
Preceded her in death beside her parents was her husband Gilbert Poynter, two brothers- Gardner and Forrest Ferguson. Two grandsons- Joseph Lytle Poynter and Richard Gearty.
Two Sisters- Cordelia Northern and Grace Land. A daughter-in-law- Judy Poynter and 2-son-laws- Keith Case and Joseph Gearty.
Surviving are two daughters- Shirley Gearty of Helotes, Texas, and Kay (Tom) Moran of Maysville, Ky.
Three Sons- Frenchie (Ruth) Poynter of Vanceburg, Ky., Rodney (Vickie) Poynter of Bellevue,Ky., and Harry (Mavis) Poynter of Warrensburg, Missouri.
Twelve Grandchildren and 24-Great-Grandchildren and 9 -Great-Great-Grandchildren also survive.
Friends may call from 5-8PM Sunday and from 8:00AM until time of services Monday at the Gaydos Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Monday December 3, 2012 at 1:00PM at the Gaydos Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Arrasmith officiating. Burial will follow in the Black Oak Cemetery Black Oak, Ky.
