Norma Kennedy, Age 91 of Vanceburg passed away with her family by her side Sunday July 26, 2015 @ 3:45 p.m. at the Golden Living Center of Vanceburg after an extended illness.
Norma was born in Lewis County, Ky. June 8, 1924 to the late Barney and Tillie Edington.
Norma was a dual member of the Maysville Church of Christ in Christian Union and the Vanceburg Christian Baptist Church in which she was active in many church functions. Norma was a big volunteer in the Adult Day Care Center in Maysville, Ky.
Norma was also commissioned a Kentucky Colonel.
In her earlier years she worked for the U.S. Shoe Corporation here in Vanceburg.
Norma loved to quilt and was a foster grandparent.
Surviving are four daughters- Bea (Dale) Liles of Maysville, Ky., Nancy (Allen) Dillow, and Anita (Tom) Bertram both of Vanceburg, Ky.
Barbara Kennedy of Lexington, Ky.
10-grandchildren and 13-great-grandchildren, and 2-great-great- grandchildren.
Special niece- Carolyn Lawson
preceded in death beside her parents was her husband Herbert R. Kennedy in 1992, two daughters- Molly McNown and Joan Kennedy in infancy. Two sisters- Dorothy Edington and Este Edington and one brother- Sam Edington.
Funeral services will be Thursday July 30, 2015 @ 1:00 p.m. At the Vanceburg Christian Baptist Church with Reverend Marilyn Roades and Pastor Darrell Musick officiating. Burial will follow in the Stone Cemetery Scotts Branch, Ky.
Friends may call from 10:00a.m. until time of services Thursday at the Vanceburg Christian Baptist Church.
Pallbearers are her grandsons Greg Ruckel, Brian Ruckel, Dale Liles, John Liles, Austin Cooper, Bart Adams, and C.H. Thompson.
Honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters Beverly Clary, Amanda Thompson, and Katie Brannon.
