Opal ‘Tickle’ Kennard, Age 86, of Vanceburg, Kentucky passed away Tuesday October 20^th, 2020 with her family by her side at the Maysville Rehabilitation & Health Care Center Maysville, Kentucky after an extended illness.

Opal was born in Vanceburg, Kentucky November 9, 1933 to the late William and Mattie DeAtley Irwin.  Opal started working for the Vanceburg Grade School in her earlier days.  She also worked for the Comprehend System in Vanceburg from which she retired from.  She also was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Vanceburg First Baptist Church,

Opal was a graduate of Lewis County High School Class of 1952. 

She was an avid UK basketball fan as well as being a Big Cincinnati Reds fan.

Left to cherish Opal’s memories are two sons- Charles Allen (Cynthia) Kennard, and Robert (Lisa) Kennard both of Vanceburg, Kentucky.

Three- grandsons- Adam Kennard of Morehead, Ky., Nick (Katie) Kennard of Cincinnati, Ohio; and Blake Kennard of Vanceburg, Kentucky.

Preceded in death beside her parents was her husband Charles A. Kennard in June 2^nd, 2012, three sisters- Martha Butler, Zita Kegley, and Mary Kegley.  Five brothers- George, Charles, Chester, Gene, and Robert Irwin.

Funeral services will be Friday October 23, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Gaydos Funeral Home 159 2^nd street Vanceburg, Ky. With Dr. Howard Wilson officiating.  Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens Black Oak, Ky.

Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons and Bill Tom Stone, Danny Enix, and Bryan Wright for Opal ‘Tickle’ Kennard.
