Otha Goodwin Obituary
Mr. Otha G. Goodwin, Age 89, of Ashland, Kentucky formerly of Vanceburg passed away Friday March 25, 2016 with his family by his side at the Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility in Ashland, Kentucky after an extended illness.
Otha was born in Tannery, Kentucky February 18, 1927 to the late Conner C. and Bertha Horsley Goodwin. Otha owned and operated along with his late brother Leo The Goodwin Pontiac & Chevrolet dealership here in Vanceburg. Otha was a past member of the Vanceburg Lions Club and was a member of the Old Orchard Christian Church in Ashland, Kentucky where he enjoyed volunteering his time to the church. Otha was a veteran of the United States Navy in which he so proudly served during World War II.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years Hazel Hardin Goodwin of Ashland whom he married January 16, 1955 in Greenup County, Kentucky.
One daughter- Glenda K. (Steve) Himes of Garrison, Kentucky.
One son- Brent A. Goodwin of Ashland, Kentucky.
One brother- Lovell B. Goodwin of Ashland, Kentucky
Two sisters- Esther (Gene) Crisp of Minford, Ohio and Dorothy Kelly of North Kingsville, Ohio. Several nieces and nephews also survive who will mourn his passing.
Preceded in death beside his parents was a daughter- Teresa Goodwin in 1957, Brothers Leo, Homer, and George Goodwin. Sisters- Gladys Cuerden and Goldie Fannin.
Funeral services will be Tuesday March 29th, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. At the Gaydos Funeral Home 159 2nd street Vanceburg, Kentucky 41179 with Pastor Joey Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in the Black Oak Cemetery Black Oak, Kentucky.
Friends may call from NOON until time of services Tuesday at the Gaydos Funeral Home.
Military graveside rites will be accorded by V.F.W. Post 5438 Monte Lewis Stamm of Vanceburg, Kentucky. Family will serve as pallbearers.
