Pamela Chaney Obituary

Pamela Louise Braden Chaney, age 79, of Vanceburg, Ky. Passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Born on March 25, 1946, in Santa Barbara, California, Pamela was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She is survived by her husband, Ben Chaney Jr.; her children, Teresa J. Bryant (Ed Bryant), Benny Chaney III (April Chaney) her grandchildren, Brandon Bryant (Amber Bryant), Tiffany Hunter (Jeremy Hunter), and Andrew Chaney; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Kemp and Reece McCane, Banks Bryant, and Lucy, Josie, and William Hunter.

Pamela, a woman of unwavering kindness and deep devotion to her family, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.  Born and raised in California, Pam cherished her early years on the ranch, where she developed a lifelong love for the western lifestyle and spent time barrel racing.

After moving to Kentucky with her husband Ben, Pam embraced a new chapter of life, raising their children, Teresa and Benny, with boundless love and dedication.  From 1978 to 1981, she served her community as a sheriff’s deputy, demonstrating courage and compassion in equal measure.  In 1982, Pam began her career at Beverly Hill Enterprise.  While working full-time and raising her children, she pursued her dream of becoming a nurse, putting herself through nursing school with determination and grace.  Her nursing career spanned decades, and she retired in 2012, having touched countless lives with her care and empathy.

Pam found joy in the simple pleasures of life; tending to her garden, bird watching, and spending time on the farm.  She loved traveling out west to visit family and friends, and her happiest moments were those spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She had a special fondness for all things western, the color purple, and hummingbirds.

Preceded Pam in death was her father James Braden, mother and stepfather Marjorie and Charles Swan and brother Rick Braden.
