Sandra C. (Armstrong) Bivens

Sandra C. Bivens, 79 of Vanceburg Ky passed away Monday, November 28, 2022 at Hospice of Hope Care Center in Maysville, Ky surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was born in Lewis County, Kentucky September 24, 1943 to the late Charles Gordon and Frances Combs Armstrong. Sandy was a lifelong member of the Reynolds Chapel United Methodist Church in Black Oak Vanceburg, Ky. She graduated from Morehead State University with a bachelor’s degree and became a teacher in the Lewis County School System until she retired January 1, 1995 after 27 years of teaching. She dearly loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes were reading and sewing, she loved making quilts for the new great grandbabies when they were born.

Sandy is survived by a daughter and two sons, Cheryl Crawford (Gary Rutherford) of Wallingford, Ky, Roger L. Bivens II (Karen McGlone) and Stephen (Melody) Bivens of Vanceburg, Ky. 6 grandchildren and 1 on the way, Erica (Josh) Kegley of Wallingford, Ky, Jared Rankins of Tollesboro, Ky, Travis Crawford (Jake Sandmann) of Cincinnati, Oh, Roger L. Bivens III (Trey) of Phoenix, Az, Ethan Bivens (Ande Newsome) of Perry County, Ky, Shelbey (Nathan) Little of Virgie, Ky, and a new grandbaby due in June 2023. She is also survived by 7 great grandchildren, Harlee Rankins, Tucker Rankins, Jaxon Kegley, Owen Kegley, Maelyn Little, Judah Little, and Lainey Little as well as two brothers, Roger (Margie) Armstrong of Wheelersburg, Oh and Denver Armstrong of Greenup, Ky.

Besides her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband of 41 years Roger L. Bivens, a son-in-law David Crawford, a brother Fred Armstrong, and a sister-in-law Marilyn Sue Armstrong.

Services for Sandra C. Bivens will be Friday December 2, 2022 at 1:00p.m. at Gaydos Funeral Home in Vanceburg, Ky with Brother Tim Anderson officiating. Burial will be at the Black Oak Cemetery in Vanceburg, Ky.

Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 am until the time of services at the Gaydos funeral home in Vanceburg, Ky.
