Sandra Ruckel Obituary

Mrs. Sandra Kay Hendrickson Ruckel, Age 49, of Frankfort, Kentucky formerly of Vanceburg passed away Monday May 31st, 2021 at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

Sandy as she was known by family and friends was born in Mansfield, Ohio May 15th, 1972 to the late Terry and Aurora Jane Porto Hendrickson.  Sandy graduated from Tollesboro High School Class of 1990.  She then went on to earn a double Associates degree in business from Maysville Community College.  Sandy worked for the Social Security Administration in Maysville, Kentucky and Portsmouth, Ohio.  She was instrumental in helping groups that needed to raise money for various needs.  Sandy, especially enjoyed weekends and visiting with friends at the family camp on the Ohio river in Vanceburg.

Sandy was an avid dog lover and had a special relationship with her dog Murphy.  She was an avid reader especially researching different versions and translations of the Bible.  She was a member of The Bridge Church in Vanceburg, Ky.

Left to cherish Sandy’s memories is her husband of 26 years whom she married in Tollesboro, Kentucky at their home August 16, 1994 Todd Ruckel of Frankfort, Ky.

Three sons- David Adam Hampton of Lexington, Ky., Brett Ruckel and Cameron Ruckel both of Vanceburg.

Brother- Tony (Betty) Hendrickson- Lebanon, Ohio.

Several Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends who also will mourn her passing.

Funeral services will be Saturday June 5th, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Gaydos Funeral Home 159 2nd street Vanceburg, Ky. 41179 with Brother Ben Collier officiating.  Interment will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens Black Oak, Ky.

Visitation will be Friday June 4th, 2021 from 5-8 pm and from 8:00 am until time of services Saturday at the Funeral Home.

Pallbearers for Sandra Kay Ruckel will be Jeremy Ruckel, Kenny Ruckel, Brent Haney, Andrew Haney, Kenny Kegley, Timmy Bowden and Johnny Bevins.

This fund will be used for missionaries to travel and spread the Gospel where it is needed.
