Shirley Ann (Cooper) Collins

Shirley Ann Cooper Collins, 85, of Louisville, Kentucky formerly of Vanceburg, Kentucky passed away Thursday June 13, 2024 at her home in Louisville, Kentucky after an extended illness.

Shirley was born in Thor, Kentucky December 4, 1938 to the late Ray and Margaret Stafford Cooper.  She was a graduate of Lewis County High School Class of 1957.

Shirley was a member of the Vanceburg Christian Church for 75 years.  She loved playing tennis and bridge for many years and she especially enjoyed reading.

Preceded her in death was her husband of 32 years Dewey Collins, Jr., her daughter, Shelly Lane Collins, and brothers William T. Cooper and Jackie Ray Cooper.

Left to cherish Shirley’s memories are two sons- William R. Collins (William R. Howes), and Dewey Joseph (Donna Bennett) Collins.

Sister- Alice (Glen) Gilbert, sister-in-law Vondy Collins Jordan Miller.

Grandchildren- Kate Collins, Sarah Collins, Nicholas Collins, Benjamin Collins, and Conner Ledington, as well as many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews who will mourn her passing.

She leaves behind friends from the many places she lived including Hopkinsville, Kentucky; Arlington and Vienna, Virginia; Okinawa Japan; Nashville, Tennessee; and Louisville, Kentucky.

Funeral Services will be Saturday June 15, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gaydos Funeral Home 159 2nd street Vanceburg, Kentucky 41179 with Pastor Tom Cox Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow in the Waring cemetery Garrison, Kentucky.

Visitation will be Saturday June 15, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at Gaydos Funeral Home.
