Thomas Brooks Riley Jr. departed this life Sunday December 22, 2024 at the Hospice of Hope Care Center in Maysville, Ky.

Brooks was born in Lewis County, Ky to the late Margaret Shumate and Thomas Riley Sr. on September 1, 1940.

He graduated from Lewis County High School and attended Morehead State University. In his younger adult life, he was a steel worker and later worked on the family farm.

Brooks was a member of the Masonic Lodge Stone City # 963 Free & Accepted Masons of Garrison, Kentucky where he was a 3rd degree Master Mason.

Well known for his loud and boisterous personality, he loved storytelling–recounting his adventures. He also enjoyed hunting, following politics, and eating down-home cooked food.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Tammy, a brother, Rex Allen, and niece, Lucia Darcy.

He is survived by his daughter, Teresa Sapp of Ewing, Ky; son and daughter in law, Thomas ‘Bo’ and Mechelle Riley of Chillicothe, Oh; daughter, Patricia Riley of Ashland, Ky; grandson and wife, Sean and Kara Sapp of Lexington, Ky; sister Betty Tharp of Phoenix, Az. sister Janet Itanen of Stark, Fl.; niece Shelly Anderson of Phoenix, Az.; as well as great and great-great nieces and nephews in Florida and Minnesota.

In accordance with Brooks’ wishes, there will be a private service at the convenience of the family.
