Hardy, Wilma D. Burton.  Aged 90+ passed away on Sunday July 5, 2020 at her home in Naples, Florida.  Wilma was born at home on, November 4, 1929, in Vanceburg, Kentucky, where she grew up and attended Lewis County Public Schools.  Wilma graduated from Lewis County High School in 1948 and briefly attended Sue Bennett College in London, Kentucky before eloping with her husband of 70 years, Ad (Jack) Hardy (May 28, 1927 – November 2, 2019). Wilma and Ad raised five children.

She attended the Methodist Church of Vanceburg and Naples, Florida, and became a member of the Eastern Star Organization. Wilma enjoyed working the voting polls for Whitehall, a suburb of Columbus, Ohio.  Wilma was generous and thoughtful, devoting time and energy to those in need. She was a supporter of education programs at the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota for many years.  Wilma had a lifelong love of the arts and enjoyed attending the theater, concerts, and played cards (Euchre) regularly with friends.

Wilma loved her family foremost and is preceded in death by her husband, Ad (Jack) Hardy, her parents, Willard and Mae Smith Burton, her brother Donald Burton, and sister-in-law Christine Burton.  Wilma is survived by her children: Jackie (Karl) France, Steven (Jody) Hardy, Rebecca (John) Schlanger, Diana (Todd) Gallion, Michael (Kathy) Hardy and devoted granddaughter Vanessa Wolsefer.  Wilma is survived by ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday July 18th from 10:00 am until time of services at the Gaydos Funeral Home 159 2nd street Vanceburg, Ky. 41179.

Funeral services will be at 4:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home with Dr. Howard Wilson officiating.  Interment will follow at Lewis County Memory Gardens, Black Oak, Ky.

A luncheon will be provided at the Carter House between viewing and Funeral service.

Pallbearers for Wilma D. Hardy are Steve Hardy, Mike Hardy, Patrick Hardy, Eric Merz, Diana Gallion, Emily Adams, Andrea Osborne, and Lynsey Snyder.
